1. Keep your foot off the gas peddle!
I understand all about the need of getting to your destination yesterday, but the faster you drive the more gas your car consumes.
2. Experiment and learn to make your favorite foods yourself.
Example#1; I became hopelessly addicted to McDonalds iced lattes My addiction was getting way out of hand. I craved them the minute I got out of bed in the mornings.
Solution; My wife bought me a Mr. Coffee Espresso machine for Christmas, and now I can have my latte anytime I want for a fraction of the cost.
See iced latte recipe if you would like to make it your self.
Example#2; I love crabmeat and cream cheese won tons from the local Chinese restaurant.
Solution: I experimented at home with the ingredients I could taste in their won tons until I nailed it.
See Crab Meat and Cream Cheese Wonton Recipe if you would like to make them
, they are delicious and cheap.
3. If you must do the extremely quick and fast Drive through for dinner as many of us sometimes do (especial on those days when the kids have practice, and you have been out paying bills and running errands all day), Order the sandwiches only then go home open a bag of chips and a soda.
Sure its only a few bucks more for the meal but if you buy for a family that ten extra dollars you just spent on fries and drinks could have purchased several bags of chips and 2 liter sodas. Trust me the savings will add up over time. This is practical money saving tips at its best.
4. Use Tissues instead of Toilet paper to blow your nose.
Think about this one! Not everyone likes or even wants to buy cheap toilet paper not to mention it seems to go faster than some of the name brand.
Do you have kids?
Have you ever watched them use half a roll of toilet paper to blow their noses?
You can buy a 3 pack of tissues for a few bucks and your children will only use one at a time. You may even tear off a large amount of toilet papers, out of habit, but how many tissues do you use at a time?
It really does save money if you have a large family and the tissue boxes look better on your end table than a roll of toilet paper.
5. Use plastic grocery bags in your trash cans. If you're like me, I have a small trash can in every room.
It is much faster when cleaning and my family automatically throws their trash in the can instead of the nearest surface. (I don't know maybe it's something about line of sight versus walking to the one big trash can most people have in their kitchen. It's just easier to have a trash can in every room.) But any ways practical money saving tips number five. Use the plastic grocery bags in all your smaller trash cans.
6. Unscrew a few light bulbs
In almost every home there are light fixtures that hold several light bulbs. If these light fixtures are in a place you don't need a lot of light such as hallways, closets, bedrooms, and so on. You should try to unscrew all but one light. This way it only uses half the power and if someone forgets to turn it off it will save you money.
Ever consider that maybe you could potentially save a lot of money by purchasing cheap reading glasses ?
Let me tell you where to find them for as low as $5.00 with no eye appointment.
