2. You should fill in those cracks and protect your home against air leaks. This is one of the most cost-effective ways to lower your power bill and improve your comfort. If you do it right, stopping those air leaks could save you up to 10% on your home power bill.
3. Heat only rooms you use. Close off rooms that you do not use in the winter and that contain no water pipes or hot-water baseboard-system pipes. Make sure you close the vents off in these rooms.

10. Plant some trees around your house. Not only does it provide oxygen, but it raises home and neighborhood values. Plus the shade keeps your home cooler in the summer. Your air conditioner will thank you for it, and if it's not working as hard it will last you longer.
11. Insulation, Insulation, Insulation; ...... You can buy it just about anywhere and all you do is roll it out. Adding insulation in your attic will keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer saving big on that heat and air bill.
