Saving Money With Coupons
There are many ways to save money but saving money with coupons is one of the easiest and most effective ways out there. Coupons are easy to find and can be found through many different outlets.
Coupons are easy to store and don't take up much space. For the little bit of time, it takes to cut and collect coupons, I think you'll agree with me that it's worth the effort.
The best place to find coupons is hands-down the local Sunday newspaper. However, if you live in a small town but have access to a larger city's newspaper, I'd recommend that first.
You should be able to collect over a hundred coupons from the paper each weekend. For the cost of one dollar or so, it's worth the money you'll spend with all the savings that you'll get.
The second best place to collect coupons is actually in the grocery store itself! Here are two secrets I want to share with you. Walk up and down every isle weekly and collect all the coupons that come out of the coupon machines.
The great part about these coupons is that they're free! Secondly, their expiration date usually exceeds the dates on the coupons in the Sunday paper. I'll explain in a minute why it's important to have coupons that don't expire for a while.
While you're in the grocery store, you'll also want to grab as many different free fliers that they have in the front of the store. These fliers usually house "store" coupons. By "store" coupons, I mean that they are coupons that can only be redeemed in that specific store.
To me, these coupons are equivalent to finding gold! Most stores will let you combine your "store" coupon with your manufactures coupon for double the savings. Jackpot!
So if you've followed my advice this far, you're probably surrounded by hundreds of coupons, most of which you feel you'll never use. Here's the good news. There's more than one way when it comes to saving money with coupons.
If you're a member of an auction-style website, this will work to your advantage. We all know that it's not legal to sell coupons. However, on these auction websites, you can get paid for the time it takes you to collect and cut the coupons that you don't want. Let me make this a little clearer by using myself as a specific example.
On average, I gather 75 coupons that are specifically for food. These are coupons that I know I would never use. On the auction website, I list some of the brands of coupons that I'm giving away as well as some key expiration dates.
I usually get paid around $3 for these coupons. Again, I'm not charging for the coupons themselves, but the time it takes me to gather and clip them. If you choose to do this with the coupons you don't want, you'll find that your coupons with the furthest expiration dates come in handy.
To recap on saving money with coupons, here's where we stand. You pay $1.00 for the Sunday paper. You clip all the coupons and redeem the ones you want. You gather all the free coupons in the grocery store as well as the store ads.
Then you sell your time/coupons on an auction-style website and make about $3.00. Would you say you have saved a lot of money by this point? I think so!
With these fool-proof ideas mentioned above, you should be feeling inspired right about now to collect as many coupons as you can. Who knew saving money with coupons could be so easy and profitable? There are just a few more non-traditional ways to score free coupons that I want to tell you about.
There are almost always a few coupons in free magazines and publications. Subscribe to as many of these free magazines as you can. I know this will mean more junk mail that will sit on your kitchen counter for a week before it gets thrown out.
It's worth it, trust me. Coupons can also be removed from the magazines found in your doctor's office or gym. In no way am I suggesting stealing the coupons from your doctor's office! Shame on you for thinking that! Simply ask the office staff if they would mind if you took the coupon. Nine times out of then they will tell you that you can have it.
Just as I gave you the tip of selling your time/coupons online, this is also a good place to pay other people for their time in collecting coupons. Find people with coupons listed far away geographically.
This will help to ensure you get different coupons than what is available in your local market. Even if you pay a few bucks for these coupons and only use 2 or 3 of them, you've saved money right there, and you will still have the opportunity to resell them online.
I think I've gone over just about every outlet of how to get coupons offline. You can do a lot of saving money with coupons, but knowing when and how to use your coupons is a key component to this whole plan. It's important to keep your coupons organized so you know what you have.
I separate mine by main course, side dish, snack, beverage, house, body, and pet. You can choose which categories will work best for you. Go through your coupons regularly so you can become familiar with what you have.
This will also help you weed out what has already expired as well as bring to your attention any coupons that are due to expire shortly.
You'll see the most savings if you use your coupons in conjunctions with in-store offers such as buy one get on free offers. You can usually find these out through the store internet sites ahead of time before you head to the store for your groceries.
Now that I've shared all my secrets on saving money with coupons, go fourth and be a savvy shopper!
