Saving Money On Gas shows you very simple ways to save money at the pump.
Saving money on gas is always in the back of our minds. Every time I stop at the gas station to fill up, I get a sinking sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. We cannot control the price of oil, but there are a few things we can do to save a little cash at the gas stations.
- Slow Down! I know, I know, we all do it. Late for work again, got to pick the kids up, or how about this one, we can’t be late for church again!
It is a proven fact that the faster you drive the more gas you use. Wouldn’t it be well worth the money to leave fifteen minutes early instead of driving 90mph and endangering not only your family, but mine? Of course it would.
So try to keep it a few under the speed limit, if you're running late there is no need in killing yourself and burning up all of your gas. Just be late!
- Tune that car up! No, for real. Did you know that your vehicle will use more gas if it is in poor running condition? Trust me, the extra maintenance will pay for its self in gas savings.
- Clean out your car. Did you know that the extra weight from a piled up vehicle will cause you to get fewer miles per gallon? The bigger the car the more gas it takes, so if you have a small car with extra weight it’s almost the same as driving a mid-size.
- Make sure you have the right amount of air in your tires. Too little can be dangerous and too much will cause reduced fuel efficiency.
- Walk! Not only is it good for you, but it uses no gas and is wonderful for the environment.
- Go to the mall. Doing all your shopping at one place save you gas. Driving back and forth across town to different stores stopping and starting in traffic is not economical.
- Fill up early in the week. Between Mondays and Wednesdays are idea times. Different studies over the years have proven gas in normally a few cents cheaper and traffic is lighter on these days.
- Slow your pumping down. Picture this “you put a stopper in your bath tub, and you turn the water wide open, See all those air bubbles? Now turn it down, "There are no more air bubbles” . Gas evaporates much quicker than water, and by pumping your gas fast you are actually evaporating gas you just bought.
I hope some of these tips will help you on your saving money on gas journey. Please feel free to contact me with any more saving money on gas tips. I will publish them on this page and give you credit. Thanks and drive safe.
