Save Money On Food
The save money on food guide Is compiled of 15 easy to follow tips that are sure to help keep your grocery budget under control.
Tip 1. When I shop for groceries, I make sure that I only shop at stores that I have a card for. If it is a store that you can save money with the card, you will probably spend about $40 more on every $100 that you spend.
Tip 2. Clipping coupons may seem tedious but in the long run, you might be surprised at the amount of money you can save weekly by clipping, organizing and actually using coupons. If you throw all of your coupons away, you are actually throwing money in the trash. You can save over 35% on your grocery bill by using them.
Tip 3. Plan your meals in advance, before you go grocery shopping. People who make daily trips to the store for meals spend up to 50% more on groceries weekly.
Tip 4. Before you go shopping you need to remember your grocery list. If you forget it, you need to go back and get it. Make sure you go strictly by your list, stay focused. No frivolous spending.
Tip 5. Leave your kids at home! I have five children, and the youngest ones love throwing extra items that are not needed into the cart.
Tip 6. Save money on food by always making sure that you do not go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. If you go shopping hungry you might buy half the store, and then there goes your save money on food budget.
Tip 7. Round off your grocery list , or you could bring a calculator to add as you go so that you do not over spend. This can save you embarrassment at the register, so you dont have to put items back.
Tip 8. Grocery stores put sale items at the front of the aisles. Get your chips, and other sale items from these spots. This will keep you from browsing through the whole aisle, and tempting you to buy extra things that are not on your list.
Tip 9. Do not be picky about brand names. A lot of times the store brand has the same exact ingredients. Besides you would probably prefer the taste of savings more.
Tip 10. Do not get suckered into all the buy one get one free deals, they are not always deals. Sometimes the store is charging you for the price of two on one item any ways.
Tip 11. Buy all of your non-food items at discount stores. Dollar stores sell all of your toiletriees, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products.
Tip 12. You are getting a much better deal if you buy 2 liters of soda rather than cans. If you absolutely must buy cans, it is sometimes cheaper to buy it in bulk when they have the 3 for $10 deals.
Tip 13. When you are waiting patiently in line at the checkout, do not look at the items on the check out racks. These are the highest priced items at the store. You might be tempted to buy these expensive snacks, gum or magazines on impulse. You can keep yourself occupied by preparing your coupons for checkout, and getting your store card ready to be scanned.
Tip 14. Some stores will give you a little money for recycling your old grocery bags.
Tip 15. Keep your eye on the scanner. A lot of time sale items do not ring up properly. If something rings up higher than you thought you need to bring it to the cashier's attention. You could be significantly over charged if you do not pay attention to this.
