Babies need more than just food and diapers. It is very easy to get caught up in all the cute baby clothes and fancy toys that fill the stores. Truth is babies will outgrow most of the new clothes before they even get to wear them!
Consignment stores and hand-me-downs are wonderful ways to save money on baby clothes. Babies grow so quickly the clothes is usually just like new. Of course you are going to buy some brand new items for your baby, but take advantage of the good quality used clothing that is out there.
When you do buy or receive new clothes as a gift, resist the urge to take off the tags and have them all washed and ready for baby. This way you will be able to return or exchange any items you see your baby won't be wearing.
Of course you won't feel like washing clothes the day you come home from the hospital with your baby, so have a couple of weeks worth of onesies, gowns, sleepers, socks and outfits washed and ready before they are born.
Another way to save is to resist buying those adorable $40.00 shoes for your baby. Yes, they are too cute, but until they can walk, expensive shoes are a total waste of money.
When your child is learning to walk is when it is time to invest in a good pair of shoes for them. Until then they will just be items you are constantly trying to put back on their feet.
Clothes for baby are important, but it is very easy to waste money on these items, so please use some restraint and protect your wallet.
