Child Care Cost

Who will be taking care of your precious child while you are at work? Child care costs are not getting cheaper.

With today's economy normally it takes both parents working in order to get food on the table and the bills paid. When it comes to child care cost you really only have a few options, but don’t fret you can save money.

Option #1

Day Care

The cost of daycare for one child can be $300-$400 a month! This is where you need to do a lot of comparison shopping before committing to a daycare center.

Not only compare for price, but for the quality of care your child will receive as well. Some cities have income based child care centers that are significantly cheaper than a privately owned daycare.

This is generally state funded and regulated. Be prepared for a waiting list, often they don't have openings right away. It is a good idea to have your daycare arrangements made

before your baby is born. This way you will know exactly how much you will need to budget each month for daycare so it doesn't come as a complete surprise.

Single parents check with your local human recourses department. Most states have child care programs that will pay up to 80% of day care for single and struggling parents.

Option # 2

Stay at home parent

One works outside the home and the other stays home to take care of the children. Most people automatically assume it will take both working in order to make it in this rough economy we are living in. I’m about to ask you to do something before you count out the stay at home parent thing.

Take the parent that makes the most money and carries the health insurance on the family and set them aside.

Now take the parent with the least income and do as follows.

(Example only, adjust these monthly numbers according to your situation)

Now let me ask you. Would working 40 hours a week, and missing precious time with your child worth $210.00 a month. You could yard sale on weekends and make that! There is also a lot of online work at home jobs so you would actually be saving all the child care cost, and bringing more money into your home than what you would if you were working outside the home.

Option # 3

Pawn them off on family.

Grand mothers love spending time with their grand babies and most states even have programs that will pay the family member so you don’t have to.

Weight the odds; I know you will make the best child care cost decision for your family.
